Things To Consider When Buying A New Faucet

The ball valve is the core of this revolutionary new design. It was the first single-handle faucet to use this revolutionary design. This faucet quickly became a hit, and sales soon reached $1 million. Today, the ball-valve faucet continues to be one of the most popular types of faucets. Here are some things to consider when buying one.

The manufacturing process is highly automated and most machines are controlled by computers. The entire process involves the forming of the faucet's main body, application of a finish, and assembling various components. The finished product is then inspected and packaged. Environmental regulations have had an impact on this manufacturing process, which is now highly automated. After finishing, the faucet is ready for installation. In the event of an accidental leak, there are several things to keep in mind.

First, you need to determine the placement of the faucet. This can either be on the sink or on the countertop. The former takes up less space and is easier to clean. The latter is more practical for exterior walls, particularly in colder climates. It's important to note that a hot water tank must be installed on an interior cabinet wall in order to avoid electrical cords from snagging the faucet. This way, a leaking faucet can't damage the cabinet's finish.

When purchasing a new faucet, you should also consider the type of material that it's made from. Stainless steel is the most durable choice. The material is also highly corrosion resistant. A brass faucet must not contain more than eight percent lead, otherwise it could contaminate water for several hours. However, if you are not sure, you can always run the faucet a couple of times to flush out any excess lead. Stainless steel faucets are also available, although they are less durable.

Before, faucets had two handles, with one for hot water and one for cold water. Al Moen, a college student from Seattle, washed his hands on a hot water faucet and accidentally scalded his hands. This prompted him to come up with a single-handle design. The single-handle design is the most common type of faucet today. If you want a more period look, you can choose a three-hole faucet.

Another popular type of faucet is the ball valve. A ball valve is a single-handle faucet that contains a steel ball with a network of holes. Adjusting the ball with the handle changes the temperature and flow rate of the water. But be careful: ball valves contain numerous small parts, which can be affected by mineral deposits and other particles in the water. This can lead to leaks. If you're not careful, you might accidentally break the valve!

Before you purchase an aerator, make sure you know the size of your faucet. Regular-size aerators typically measure 15/16" Male and 55/64" Female, while junior-size aerators are typically 13/16" M and 3/4" F. Measure your faucet using coins to find the right size. A nickel-sized faucet requires a regular-size aerator, while a dime-sized faucet needs a junior-size aerator.
