EspañolWhen installing metal spigots, it is usually necessary to use PTFE sealing tape, which has the following functions and technical points:
1、 Core role
There are microscopic irregularities in metal thread processing when filling the gap between threads. After the raw material is compressed, these gaps are filled to block the water flow channel.
Lubricate and seal the winding to reduce the frictional resistance when threading, while forming an elastic layer to compensate for tolerances.
2、 Operating standards
The winding direction must be counterclockwise (opposite to the tightening direction of the thread) to ensure that the raw tape does not loosen when tightened. For example, when holding the spigot with the right hand, the tape should be wrapped clockwise from the root of the thread (note: the actual winding direction is opposite to the rotation direction of the thread).
Layer control usually involves wrapping 3-5 times:
Insufficient sealing due to too few (<2 circles)
Excessive (>6 turns) may cause the pipe fittings to crack or hinder complete screwing in
Avoid covering 1-2 threads at the beginning and end of the thread:
Leave space at the front end to prevent debris from blocking the water outlet
Leave the end blank to ensure effective thread engagement

4、 Precautions
Material compatibility should not be used for plastic threads (such as PPR fittings), as the shrinkage stress of the raw material may cause expansion and cracking.
When tightening after winding, if you hear a slight "creaking" sound, it will stop - at this time, the raw material tape has fully filled the gap, and excessive force will damage the valve seat.
Emergency leakage: If there is slight leakage during water testing, close the water source and wrap 1-2 circles of raw material tape before tightening again. It is forbidden to operate directly with water.
