What is a beverage dispenser spigot?

A beverage dispenser spigot is the small tap or valve installed at the bottom of a beverage container or water tank. It's the heart of the entire container; without it, you'd have to lift the heavy container to pour the liquid.

Understanding the Beverage Dispenser Spigot

1. What is it used for?

Core function: Its main function is to control the flow of liquid. With a simple flip or press, the beverage flows into your cup.
Convenient and effortless: With a beverage dispenser spigot, you don't need to lift a heavy lid to scoop out the liquid from the top, nor do you need to struggle to pour from a heavy container.  Even the elderly and children can easily dispense water.

2. How is it installed?

Sealing structure: This small tap is usually installed through a round hole in the container wall. It typically has a rubber gasket (or seal) on each side, sandwiching the container wall tightly between them.
Fixing method: A large nut on the inside locks the entire beverage dispenser spigot onto the container, ensuring that the juice or water inside doesn't leak through the gaps.

3. What are the common materials?

Plastic: The most common and cheapest, usually silver or black. Lightweight, but the handle might feel a bit loose after prolonged use.
Metal (stainless steel): Many people prefer to replace plastic spigots with stainless steel ones. They feel heavier and look more premium, are less prone to rust, and provide a more stable water flow, lasting for many years.

4. Small details to pay attention to during use

What to do if the water flow is slow: If you find the beverage dispenser spigot is dispensing slowly, don't rush to disassemble the tap. Often, it's because the lid on top of the container is screwed on too tightly, preventing air from entering. Loosen the top lid slightly, and the water flow will immediately increase.
Cleaning hard-to-reach areas: Despite its small size, it actually has many small curves inside. If you've used it for viscous syrups or juices with pulp, be sure to remove and rinse it with water after use, otherwise, it can become sticky inside and even clog the outlet.
