How to use a Monin syrup pump? Methods, tips, and guide.

For the Monin syrup pump, a classic bar tool, using it correctly will make your drink preparation smoother and better preserve the quality of the syrup.

Monin Syrup Pump User Guide

1. Assembly and Preparation

Insert the straw: After receiving the new pump head, firmly insert the included transparent long straw into the round hole at the bottom of the syrup pump.
Check the length: Ensure the straw is long enough to reach the bottom of the bottle. If the straw is too long and prevents the pump head from screwing on, you can slightly trim the bottom of the straw.

2. Unlocking the Pump Head (Crucial Step)

Rotate to unlock: Many first-time users find the pump head won't press down; this is because it's locked. Hold the pump head cap (the part screwed onto the bottle neck) with one hand, and rotate the pump nozzle counterclockwise with the other hand.
Springing up: After rotating a few turns, the pump nozzle will automatically spring upwards. At this point, the syrup pump is ready to use.

3. Installing onto the Bottle

Replace the original cap: Open the original screw cap of the Monin syrup bottle and slowly insert the assembled syrup pump into the bottle.
Tighten the seal: Screw the pump head's screw cap clockwise onto the bottle neck. Be careful not to overtighten; just ensure a secure seal without wobbling.

4. "Priming" and First Dispensing

Initial pressing: When first installed, the pump tube is filled with air. You need to press the pump head several times until the air is expelled and the syrup flows smoothly.
Portion control: Once the syrup flows, pressing the pump all the way down usually dispenses a standard fixed amount (Monin standard pumps typically dispense about 10 ml per press, depending on the model).
